If healing is yours, then why are you still sick? Or why does it seem that disease can come to your body and you have no power to stand against it?
That may be what you have been thinking as we have been studying the topic of “Healing Belongs to You” this week. There is a process of learning to walk by faith and resisting sickness and disease that does not come naturally to us. The first step is the renewal of our minds. (Romans 12:2)
Wrong thinking about God’s will for our bodies, God’s will concerning sickness and disease, as well as erroneous teaching about certain Bible passages dealing with this topic, can drain every ounce of faith from you that might have been used to receive healing.
Before we can appropriate healing, we have to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God wants us well and has made that provision available to us for the taking. If we have any reservations along that line, faith for healing is impossible.
Remember the title deed we talked about earlier? If you’re not sure something belongs to you, you won’t fight to keep it. Especially when everything in this natural realm tells you it wasn’t yours to start with. The groundwork we have been laying this week is meant to establish the fact that healing is yours. In weeks to come we’ll answer some objections to healing. However, a cursory reading of this information will not be enough for faith to come in your heart. It takes a concerted effort on your part to review Scriptures that deal with healing and plant them in your heart and mind.
Repetition is key. Remember: Faith comes from hearing and hearing … (Romans 10:17) You don’t get it the first time. You may understand the concept and agree with it, but for faith to come to your heart there must be a repeated hearing of God’s Word and revelation from the Holy Spirit.
If this sounds like a lot of effort, it is. However, the benefits far outweigh the cost when you are able to resist oncoming sickness for yourself, or help someone in your family or circle of friends – or even a total stranger – receive healing.
God’s will is for you to be healed and to be a conduit of healing to a hurting world.
Confession: God is helping me to be persuaded that healing is my possession. I can use this knowledge to help others.
Scriptures for meditation: Psalm 1:1-3; Hebrews 11:6; Romans 12:1-2
