HOW TO RECEIVE HEALING

Lesson 24

This seems self-evident, but we often miss it: We receive healing by receiving the Healer. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He wants us to draw near to Him because He comes with healing in His wings. Under His wings we find refuge from disease and calamity as we abide in the secret place of the Most High. (Psalm 91:1-6)

Sometimes when we emphasize healing by faith, people unwittingly separate the healing from the Healer. If we say the right things and do the right things, we work a certain formula and voila! healing comes. It’s true we have to cooperate with God for His power to flow unhindered in our lives, but the healing ultimately comes from Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our Healer, not from a formula.

He is the source of all blessing! Wherever He goes, He brings life. Wherever the river flows, which is God the Holy Spirit, there is health and life. (Ezekiel 47:1, 9, 12) The more we come into His presence and drink from Him, the more life we experience.

Let’s not separate the healing from the Healer, the gifts from the Gift-Giver. We need more of Him, more of His presence, more of His life. How wonderful that this is just what He wants to give us!

When we feel our faith is at low tide, we can cry out to Him. When we feel discouraged, we can ask Him to give us hope. When we are in pain, we can lean on His breast and receive His tender embrace. His love for us is so great! I have received healing simply by being in awe of the love that He showed me by dying on the cross. As we wonder at the magnitude of the sacrifice on our behalf, we can find healing for our bodies.

What is lacking many times is a revelation of how greatly we are loved. That may be the only thing blocking you from receiving His healing power. Don’t you know that is what changed the lives of those who came to Him on the shores of Galilee? Not just the raw power in manifestation that opened blind eyes and cleansed lepers, but the love of God in back of that power, the love that longed to restore people to wholeness. That love is irresistible, and it’s for you and me today.

Confession: God loves me so much and He longs for me to be made whole.
