Does healing belong to the Christian? Or is it simply part and parcel of life in a fallen, sin-filled world?
This is the question we want to answer in this week’s devotions.
If it does belong to you, you would fight to keep it, or at least put up a struggle to hold on to it, instead of passively accepting sickness and disease as a natural part of life.
If you have ever paid off a car or house and held the title in your hands, you know what it means to have something that truly belongs to you. You wouldn’t let go of your belongings without a fight. Something would have to be wrong with you, or you would have had to be deceived, to give permission for someone to come and take away the possessions that are rightfully yours.
The intent of this study is to show you that you have a title deed to healing, and you are responsible to hold on to that deed, and not be hoodwinked out of your possessions. It will also show you that if you are waiting on God to do something about your sickness, He has already done it and He is waiting on you to receive it.
There is nothing pleasant about sickness, disease or infirmity. Disease is just that: dis-ease, a lack of ease and comfort. It takes away from productive time on your job, activities with your family and doing things that you normally do. It is costly in terms of money spent on treatments, money that could be used for other things. Others may be inconvenienced to take care of you. It limits you from living life to the fullest and can lead to disablement or premature death.
No one needs to be convinced about the negatives of sickness and disease, but simply wanting to avoid all of these negatives will not give us the faith we need to live in health. It takes a stronger foundation than that. Only the Word of God has the power to reveal what belongs to us and give us the faith to receive it.
Confession: God will help me to see through His Word how healing belongs to me.
